The experience through the eyes of a Flutterby, a special needs correspondent, covering the Special Olympics World Games LA2015

When I was asked by Merry Potter, publisher of SpecialNeed.Com if I would be interested in covering the Special Olympics World Games LA2015, as the first special needs adult to be approved into the press, what an amazing undertaking and opportunity she offered to me. I had no idea the gravity of that decision as I had no professional journalist experience up to this point. Merry said she was very impressed with my abilities as an author of children’s literature as well, with my work as the founder and CEO of my company and charity. She told me it would be an incredible chance to get my name as a true philanthropist and writer out into the arena of those I have been working so hard to meet. I never had been a part of something that was going to turn into such a monumental, and historical event. The Special Olympics would be taking place in Los Angeles and is now known as the largest sporting event of its nature ever!

I soon learned that this was not to be taken lightly entering the realm of the masters in news media. ESPN, the top dog covering the events owned the stage so to speak, making our work for SpecialNeeds.Com extra challenging. Here is my personal story, written in mind to inspire anyone with special needs to not be afraid of doing something out of their comfort zone because you never know what will come of it. For myself, the world just opened up and I have opportunities I never dreamed possible until I covered this event for SpecialNeeds.Com.
